Chapter 13

“Here, honey, I brought you some tea.”

Ava smiled at Willow as she entered the boardroom and set a mug of tea on the table. She was standing by the window, staring down into the street, and she crossed the room and sat down. She winced and then blushed when Willow gave her a knowing grin.

“You didn’t have to make me tea,” she said hurriedly. “I already feel completely useless just sitting here. Are you sure there isn’t something I can do to help you?”

Willow sat down beside her. “There sure is. Tell me if sex with Bishop was awesome.”

“Keep your voice down.” Ava glanced nervously at the open door. “And how do you even know that we had sex?”

Willow snickered. “You’re walking bowlegged.”

“Ha, ha.” Ava glared at her. “I am not.”

“Okay, maybe not, but you keep wincing every time you sit down.” Willow stared at Ava’s lap. “He didn’t, like, totally ruin things down there, did he?”

“Willow!”

“Hey, it’s a legitimate concern.” Willow shrugged. “I may or may not have googled some grizzly shifter, uh, romantic movies on the internet and wow – if Bishop is as big as some of those actors, I really don’t get how you’re even walking.”

Ava’s mouth dropped open. “You did not google grizzly shifter porn, Willow Tanner.”

“Of course I did,” Willow said brightly. “Strictly for research purposes of course.”

“Research? What research?”

“Listen, if you’re going to be banging a grizzly shifter it’s my duty as your best friend to know exactly what you’re dealing with. What if you needed medical care after?”

“Medical care? Willow, you’re insane.” Ava couldn’t help but laugh.

“At the very least, I figured I might have to bring you some ice packs for your poor hooch.” Willow shrugged.

“Oh my God.” Ava shook her head as Willow grinned at her.

“You should have seen the look on Mal’s face when he strolled into the kitchen and caught me watching the shifter porn parody of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears.’ You know, I think I might have given him a complex. He denied it but later that night – wowza - he made my toes curl. Repeatedly,” Willow said solemnly. “If you know what I mean. And I think you do.”

Ava burst into laughter. Willow sat patiently as she laughed and wiped at the tears streaming down her face. When she had finally gained control of herself, she reached out and squeezed Willow’s hand.

“I love you, Will.”

“I love you too, Ava. Now, spill your guts. I don’t need details unless,” Willow grinned at her, “you want to share them, but at least tell me if you had fun.”

“It was amazing,” Ava said softly. “I’ve never been with someone like Bishop. He knows exactly what to say and do to drive me crazy in bed and I can’t seem to get enough of him.”

She glanced at the open door before lowering her voice even further, “We had sex last night and then this morning after breakfast. Then we napped and had more sex. Then we ate lunch and had another round of sex before showering and coming into the office.
